Charles and Margaret were married on Feb. 3, 1948. They have four children and eight grandchildren. –CONTRIBUTED Naugatuck Valley Savings and Loan announced a number recent of promotions and new hires. Charlene Straznitskas has been promoted to senior vice president, director of retail. Straznitskas has worked with Naugatuck Valley for 38 years. Straznitskas’ promotion led to the promotions of Kathleen Katrenya to vice president, regional branch administrator and Sonia Myers to vice president, regional branch administrator. David Chopak has been promoted to operational branch manager at the New Haven Road branch. Michelle Smith has been promoted to operational branch manager of the Heritage Village Branch, and Deborah Leclerc and John Stack have been promoted to branch manager of the Seymour and Cheshire offices, respectively. AnnMarie Luskay was promoted to assistant vice president, collections manager in recognition of her dedication and hard work. Amy Britton has been promoted to BSA manager. Hunter Merrill has been promoted to vice president of information technology. Kenneth Geiger has joined the Naugatuck Valley as an assistant vice president, internal real estate appraisal review manager and Laurie Siemenski was hired as an audit/risk assistant. Naugatuck Valley also recognized the achievement of Kathleen Katrenya and Ann Marino who graduated this year from the Connecticut School of Finance & Management. On Jan. 23, the department recognized the contest winners, from left, fourth-graders Makayla Cristanti, Livia Sarnelli, Rebecca Carney, fifth-graders Hailey Russell, Kylie Neretich and Izabella Kozlowski. The winners received bicycles and helmets paid for through a $1,000 grant from the Walmart Foundation. Ahern is a graduate of Housatonic Community College and Bridgeport Hospital School of Nursing. –CONTRIBUTED Salem Lutheran Church members Carolyn Burger and her daughters Londyn and Lauren, from Naugatuck make Valentine cards during the Trumbull-Porter Chapter DAR’s 6th Annual Valentine Workshop at Salem Lutheran Church in Naugatuck Jan. 19. Over 155 Valentine cards were made to be distributed to the veterans at the VA Hospitals in West Haven, Rocky Hill and Connecticut Valley as part of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution (NSDAR) Salute to Hospitalized Veterans.
