Literacy volunteers sought for winter sessions

Literacy Volunteers of Greater Waterbury is now accepting registration for the winter sessions of volunteer orientations.

The organization trains and supports volunteers who teach adults to read, write, speak, and understand English. No prior teaching experience is necessary, but volunteers must be at least 18 years old with a high school diploma or equivalent and possess strong oral and written English skills.

Six orientations session will be held in the greater Waterbury area beginning Monday including Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. at the Whittemore Library, 243 Church St., Naugatuck.

Individuals who are interested in learning more about volunteering in adult literacy education are encouraged to attend an orientation. These will be the last orientation and training sessions until the fall of 2013.
