NAUGATUCK — The Whittemore Library is running its annual “Be an Angel” program.

Each year, staff members decorate a Christmas tree with handmade tags in a variety of seasonal shapes, each one representing an individual in need from the community. Sponsored in conjunction with the Naugatuck Visiting Nurses’ Association, this program helps others less fortunate during the Christmas season.

The library is seeking volunteers to select an ornament from the tree and purchase a gift for the individual described on the tag. People can select a gift of their choice with a value of approximately $15 or follow the suggestion on the tag. Monetary gifts will also be accepted and checks should be made out to NVNA.

Wrapped presents with gift tags attached are to be returned to the library no later than Dec 14. For more information or gifts suggestions, call the library at (203) 729-4591.
