Naugatuck Valley Savings and Loan is organizing a back to school collection through Aug. 31 to provide students in need with school supplies.

Bank employees and customers are working to fill backpacks with supplies at each of the bank’s 10 offices in the towns of Naugatuck, Beacon Falls, Cheshire, Derby, Seymour, Shelton, Southbury, and Waterbury.

“We are so pleased to have seen an enthusiastic response from a number of our customers. Many of our employees are also supporting the Back To School Supply Drive and the bank’s donating some of our own supplies as well,” Naugatuck main Branch Manager Judy Giusto said in a prepared statement.

Each bank branch manager is working with a local school, school board or human services organizations to determine the best way to distribute the backpacks and supplies to the children most in need, according to a release issued by the bank.

Donations of pens, pencils, binders, rulers, markers and other school supplies can be dropped off at any of the bank’s locations. For more information on branch locations, visit www.nvsl.com.
