NAUGATUCK — Mothers Against Drunk Driving honored a pair of Naugatuck police officers for their work to curtail drunken driving.

Officers Colin McAllister and Otis Baskins were recognized June 20 during MADD’s annual Law Enforcement Recognition Ceremony at Anthony’s Ocean View in New Haven. Officers McAllister and Baskins lead the Naugatuck Police Department in driving under the influence arrests and are commended for their efforts to stop drunk driving, a release issued by the police department stated.

According to the release, 121 people were killed in alcohol-related crashes in Connecticut in 2010 and drunk driving is the nation’s most frequently committed violent crime, killing someone every 30 minutes.
