HARTFORD — State Sen. Joseph Crisco (D-17) reported recently state grants for four fine arts organizations within his district.

The four organization that were awarded the grants are Oil Drum Art in Beacon Falls, Dandelion Productions in Bethany, The Eli Whitney Museum in Hamden, and Shakespeare Productions in Naugatuck

Crisco said nearly 100 comparable grants were awarded statewide through the Department of Economic and Community Development (DECD).

“It’s gratifying for me to see how these state grants were distributed to groups with worthy programs across the board that work in the visual arts, theatrical production, and other media,” Crisco said in a new release. “I welcome these grants to area groups because the programming they provide and support helps the next generation of Connecticut artists and performers discover the value and reward of artistic expression.”

Half the grants were awarded through the Connecticut Arts Endowment Fund and the other half through the Arts Project Support program, both of which are administered by DECD’s Connecticut Office of the Arts and State Historic Preservation Office, according to the release.

“One of Connecticut’s greatest assets has historically been the creativity of its residents and the respect and appreciation of its residents for the artistic ability of others,” Crisco said in the release. “It’s important to maintain the vibrant touchstones to that tradition so current generations will learn to appreciate the achievement, accomplishment, and excellence that abounds, sometimes just around the corner, with an idea that appreciation will be passed along to future generations.”
