MIDDLEBURY — Quassy Amusement Park will debut a new tea cup ride from Italian ride manufacturer Zamperla in the spring.

“We’re extremely excited about the addition of the new attraction,” park President Eric Anderson said in a news release. “We came off an exceptional 2011 season thanks greatly in part to our new roller coaster. That afforded us the opportunity to bring in the new tea cup ride.”

The ride features six four-passenger cups on a rotating platform that will spin at eight revolutions per minute. At the center of each cup is a wheel which allows riders to spin each cup.

A “Name The Tea Cup Ride” contest will be launched Jan. 2 and administered through the park’s website.

Members of Quassy’s Kid Club will be eligible to enter the contest. To become a member, visit www.quassy.com and click on the “Sign Up Now, E-News, Kids Club” icon. After entering a valid e-mail address, check the Kids Club box.

Electronic submissions will be accepted through the Kids Club starting in early January with the park’s management voting on the names. The winner will receive a family of four 2012 season pass to Quassy. One entry per Quassy Kids Club member will be accepted.
