NAUGATUCK — Police Chief Christopher Edson has been named one of three recipients of this year’s Distinguished Chief Award.

The award is presented by the Police Commissioners Association of Connecticut and recognizes police chiefs for their accomplishments and dedication to duty, to their department, and to the citizens they serve.

A letter from Peter Torrano, president of the association, to Police Commission Chair Steven Smith stated Edson was chosen for the honor because of his educational background, his membership and interaction with several law enforcement organizations, and his accomplishments in brining the Naugatuck Police Department forward through technology, science and major improvements in the dispatch center, among other achievements.

Edson will be honored May 30 at the Association’s Awards Dinner Meeting at the Grassy Hill Country Club in Orange.
