Naugatuck Savings Bank promotes Wheelahan

NAUGATUCK — Naugatuck Savings Bank has promoted Deborah Wheelahan to executive vice president and chief operating officer.

“Deborah’s vast wealth of knowledge and experience has enabled her to make significant contributions to the bank’s steady growth” said Charles Boulier III, president and CFO of Naugatuck Savings Bank, in a prepared statement. “Mrs. Wheelahan’s strong leadership skills will be instrumental in leading key personnel to continue the bank’s mission of providing superior customer service and being a community leader by contributing to the betterment of the communities we serve.”

In her new role, Wheelahan is responsible for effectively planning, organizing and controlling day to day operational functions of the bank and collaborates with the president to achieve the bank’s strategic objectives and initiatives.

Wheelahan, who lives in Watertown, started with Naugatuck Savings Bank as a teller in 1978 and since then has held many positions throughout the bank. She was most recently executive vice president, a position she has held since 2004.

She received an executive master of business administration degree from Fairfield University in 2001 and graduated from the American Bankers Association National School of Banking in 1995. She currently serves on the Board of Directors at the United Way of Naugatuck and Beacon Falls and also is a recent past president. She is treasurer of the Naugatuck Rotary Club and secretary and treasurer of the Naugatuck Rotary Foundation.
