Why are you running for this position?

“I am running for reelection for Burgess so that I may continue serving the town of Naugatuck and its residents. I would like to continue the work I have started to make Naugatuck a great place to live, work and raise a family. I am also committed to being the voice for our residents who are concerned about high taxes, our local school system and issues that affect our community.  For me, serving our town is about true public service, not self-service and I am dedicated to being a representative for all of Naugatuck’s people, not any one special interest.”

Have you held public office in the past? If so, what positions and when?

“I was elected burgess in May 2009 and hold the position of Second Deputy Mayor.  Prior to May 2009, I served in elected office on the Naugatuck Zoning Commission for 10 years, eight as chairman.  As chairman of the Zoning Commission, I also chaired the Aquifer Protection Commission and the Architectural Review Board.”

What experience makes you qualified for this position?

“I hold a degree in electrical engineering from Seattle University and work as an engineer for ABS Pumps in Meriden.  I am also a certified tax advisor with H&R Block in the Mountview Plaza in Naugatuck.  My engineering and financial backgrounds provide me with a strong foundation in serving the borough.  My service to the borough over the last 12 years demonstrates the experienced leadership that I bring to the Board of Mayor and Burgesses and to the community.  My professional career lends a unique opportunity to work with residents, the Water Pollution Control Board as its burgess liaison and our wastewater plant’s operator, Veolia Water, on a subject that I am highly educated and experienced in. As chairman of the Zoning Commission, I led the commission’s efforts to rewrite the Zoning Regulations after 20 years.”

If elected, what are your priorities and goals?

“My number one priority has always been and will always be listening to residents, helping them and representing their concerns.  Communication has always been the cornerstone of my public service and the public’s ability to reach me by phone, email, through my website and at my quarterly meetings gives me the opportunity to help them with their problems, concerns and the solutions and answers they look for.  I work to strike a balance between the needs of the borough and the concerns of our residents. It’s a priority for me to continue fighting on behalf of taxpayers and families who feel the economic crunch and its affects on a daily basis. My goals are to continue the work I have started for the good of all of Naugatuck including, keeping taxes at bay, charter revision, revitalizing Union City and working hard to make Naugatuck a great place for everyone.  By encouraging community collaboration and everyone working together, we can move Naugatuck forward on many fronts yet, still retain our small town charm on a very local level.”
