Two men charged after leading police on car chase

NAUGATUCK – Two Waterbury residents were arrested after authorities said they led state and local police on a chase from Middlebury to Naugatuck early Friday.

The driver, Jose Marty, 24, of 111 Draher St., Unit 3, was charged with reckless driving, disobeying signal of an officer, interfering with an officer, second-degree reckless endangerment and insurance coverage fails minimum requirements.

His passenger, Alberto Perez-Roman, 32, of 24 Central Ave., was charged with interfering with officer. Both are scheduled to appear March 30 in Waterbury Superior Court.

At about 12:14 a.m., a trooper tried to stop a Ford Explorer for motor vehicle violations on Interstate 84 east at Exit 17, police said. The Ford failed to stop and engaged police in a pursuit, extending from Middlebury into Naugatuck on Routes 63 and 68, police said.

Naugatuck police assisted, and the car was stopped at the intersection of Porter Avenue and Spring Street, police said.
