WestConn Opera to put on performance

WestConn Opera will present Amahl and the Night Visitors on Dec. 10 at 8 p.m. and Dec. 11 at 3 and 8 p.m. This 50-minute holiday classic features a different cast in each performance.

The title role is played by three 11-year-old boys: William Mackay from Greenwich and Lucas Hernandez and Ryan Murphy from Hamden. Their mothers are played by Amanda Forker from Wethersfield, Cidalia Alves of Bridgewater and Danbury resident, Lauren Brown. Featured as kings are Scott Towers and Zachary Ross, both from Branford, D’Andre Fontanelle and David Sylvia of West Haven, Joshua Lara of New Britten, Jean Carlos Rodriguez of Waterbury, Matthew Popp of Orange, and Alexander Patrie of Griswold.

Amahl and the Night Visitors is a seasonal inspiration to people of all faiths and resonates a universal message of giving and community support. This one- act opera in English is a captivating entry work to the art form and a way for children and families to be introduced to both theater and opera.

The opera is presented in Ives Hall on the Midtown Campus of WCSU and is produced and directed by Dr. Margaret Astrup. General admission tickets are available for $10, $5 for seniors and children 12 and under. Tickets will be available at the door, but can also be reserved by calling 203-837-TIXX.
