NAUGATUCK – Local dignitaries waited tables Monday night to raise money for Griffin Hospital’s Valley Goes Pink campaign.
Patrick Charmel, president and CEO of Griffin Hospital brought customers at Jesse Camilles Restaurant salads, poured their wine, and washed down tables. Naugatuck Mayor Robert Mezzo, Naugatuck Valley Savings and Loan President John Roman, Naugatuck Savings Bank President and CFO Chuck Boulier, and Naugatuck Rotary Club President Jennifer Merrill joined Charmel to collect tips as part of the “Waiters go Pink” event.
The event was part of “The Valley Goes Pink” campaign, which hosted throughout October events to raise awareness about breast cancer and raise money for hospital’s Hewitt Center for Breast Wellness in Derby.
The money raised during the campaign will be used to purchase equipment for the center, staff training and development to provide patient amenities, and to create a patient fund to assist patients who require financial aid.
In a separate fund-raiser Beacon Falls firefighters waited tables at Beacon Falls Pizza Palace for a ‘tip a firefighter’ fund-raiser Oct. 19.
