NAUGATUCK – Students at Tender Years Preschool peddled up a storm May 20 as they raised money for St. Jude Children Research Hospital. The Trik-a-thon followed a week of learning about tricycle safety and sick children at St. Jude who can’t trike around. The hospital sent the school a kit with learning materials and information to coordinate the event.
“They have everything set for you. All you have to do is have the enthusiasm,” said Teresa Paternoster, owner and director of Tender Years.
When quizzed on why she was wheeling around, preschooler Aviana Ramos said, “We’re helping the children at St. Jude because they’re very sick.”
Last year, the event raised $2,400 for the hospital. Each student peddled around the Tender Years parking lot for about 30 minutes.
