WATERBURY – Jaime Hammond, reference/serials librarian at Naugatuck Valley Community College, has been selected as one of 50 outstanding librarians in the nation to be inducted into Library Journal’s coveted cadre of “Movers and Shakers,” a distinguished annual award that, over the course of ten years, has honored 500 individuals in the field.

All 50 inductees are ensuring that the nation’s libraries deliver the materials and services, the training and technology, and the access to the Internet and instruction that Americans need to succeed in the 21st century.

Hammond was recognized for her innovation and leadership in relocating the library’s main entrance from a lower floor to the college’s main student walkway. Her nominator is colleague Kate Sheehan, an open source implementation coordinator at the nonprofit Bibliomation, which provides technological and automation services for over five dozen Connecticut public libraries and schools.
