Recently, the local winners of the Naugatuck Elks Hoop Shoot competed against the other winners from the Northwest District at the regional final at Chippens Hill Middle School in Bristol.  Trophies were awarded to the top three contestants. The winner of the age division will represent not only their lodge but also the region at the state final February 12 at New Britain High School.

Shannon Burns, above, will represent Naugatuck and the Northwest district after winning the girls 8-9 year old division with a score of 16 free throws made out of 25. Also in the picture are the state of Connecticut Elks free throw competition director John Podbielski, top left, and Northwest Hoop Shoot Regional director Rich Goucher, top right. Also pictured is the winner of the boys 8-9 year old division. Bryce Davis, not pictured, placed fifth in the boys 8-9 year old division.
Tyler Anderson, above, placed third in the boys 12-13 year old division, which makes him second alternate. Tyler had a score of 18 but lost second in a shootoff to determine the first alternate.
Nick Teixeira, above, placed second in the boys 10-11 year old division, which makes him first alternate to the state final if the regional winner is unable to attend. Nick made 17 out of 25 free throws.
