For the second year, I have had the pleasure of watching my daughter and many Naugatuck kids take part in the annual Labor Day weekend SPIN soccer tournament.

This year, both the recreation and competition teams faced tough opponents from Cheshire and Amity as well as two interleague games between each other.

The soccer this weekend was amazing. Win or lose, the girls on Naugy’s teams gave 100 percent, showing grace, teamwork, and good sportsmanship throughout the tournament.

I would like to take a minute to thank the many coaches, referees, and parents who selflessly donated their time to help our children be the best they can be.

Every parent who had a child who participated this weekend should be proud of effort and integrity demonstrated by the players this weekend. With only a short time to practice, they all showed that they have what it takes to work together as a team.

Best wishes to you all for a successful season!
