On Monday, December 20, the International Peace Light travels to Southbury CT Boy Scout Troop 1607.

The Peace Light originates in the Bethlehem Nativity Grotto when an Austrian child kindles a flame from the “eternal flame”. The light flame is used to light other flames and makes it’s way around the world as a symbol of hope, peace and love. Many Scouting groups around the world participate in this act of peace.

Dave Rohling, a Southbury native and leader of Troop 1607, accepted the flame from the Latvian representative and will present it to the Troop in a ceremony on Monday evening at 7:00 PM at VFW Post 1607 on Lakeside Avenue in Southbury. This is the third year that we have been a part of this 25 year Scouting program.
