The Naugatuck High School football team faced off against Amity High School in a scrimmage Wednesday. The tune-up was conducted in a practice-like manner, with no score-keeping and each side working certain formations for ten repetitions on both offense and defense.

The Greyhounds looked strong defensively and played a smash-mouth-style assault, delivering several hard hits on receivers running routs across the middle.

The offense sputtered in the first few passing attempts, dropping a few would-be catches, but rebounded to complete its last three passes in the drill, two of them for long gains.

Naugatuck has two more weeks of practice before its season begins with a home game under the lights against N.V.L. juggernaut Seymour High School on Friday, Sept. 17.
