West Point Cadet Sarah Melville, a 2010 graduate of Woodland Regional High School, is a member of the West Point Parachute Team that competed in USPA National Collegiate Parachuting Championships Dec. 27 to Jan. 2 in Lake Wales, Fla. The collegiate competition is an annual event that brings universities from across the nation to compete in both freefall and accuracy events. At the end of the competition, the Black Knights came away with eight Gold medals, eight Silvers medals, and 11 Bronze medals. Melville, who will join the U.S. Army as an engineer in May, competed in 4-Way Relative Formation, 6-Way Speed and Classic Accuracy, earning a silver medal for Team Classic Accuracy. When the team is not competing in skydiving competitions, the team is tasked with performing precision demonstration jumps, including jumping the game ball into every home Army football game. –CONTRIBUTED
