Naugatuck Junior Girl Scout Troop 64555 has earned the Bronze Award, which is a leadership adventure and the highest honor a Girl Scout Junior can achieve. For their Bronze Award project the girls chose to do a project to benefit cancer patients undergoing treatment. The girls learned how to finger knit so that they could make hats and held a month-long blanket drive to collect blankets. The troop received help from the fifth grade class at St. Francis-St. Hedwig School. Several troop members taught the class how to knit and they contributed their efforts to the project. The girls recently delivered 44 blankets and 12 hats to the Harold Leever Cancer Center in Waterbury. The girls will receive their Bronze Awards at a ceremony in the spring.
