Third-graders from the school in Prospect stepped back in time to learn about the town and its history. The students toured Town Hall, Prospect Cemetery, the Center One schoolhouse and the Hotchkiss House and barn. As part of the day, students wrote with quill pens and played games from yesteryear. The program was organized by third-grade teachers Marcia Beltrami, Elena Guerra and Kathleen Bicio and the Prospect Historical Society. The program was funded through the Region 16 innovative grant initiative. McNulty, a Boy Scout from Troop 138 in Naugatuck, earned his Eagle rank on April 1. –CONTRIBUTED The Eastern Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators presented its Leadership Award to Odette Franceskino of Prospect at its 47th annual conference in Boston early in May. Franceskino is the director of financial aid at the Quinnipiac University School of Law. The Leadership Award is presented to a financial aid professional who has demonstrated outstanding leadership to the association or to an association activity in the preceding year. ‘I was both delighted and humbled by this honor,” said Franceskino, who also was elected treasurer of the EASFAA at the annual meeting. “It is my pleasure to work with such dedicated individuals who are committed to the financial aid profession and the students we serve.’ –CONTRIBUTED Algonquin School third-grader Nathan Pepin plays hoop and stick on the Town Green May 30.
