Twenty-three Naugatuck High School students were inducted recently into the Naugatuck High School National Honor Society. To make the honor society, students must maintain a 3.4 GPA and show a commitment to community service, leadership, and exhibit exceptional character. Beacon Falls resident Jonathan Uhl, a chemistry major at Southern Connecticut State University, was recently named one of the Henry Barnard Distinguished Student Award recipients. Twelve students are chosen for the award each year from the four Connecticut state university campuses. The award recognizes students who are pursuing careers with the intent of helping others develop a keen intellect and/or healthy body. Students must have a 3.7 GPA or better and demonstrated significant participation in university and/or community life. Uhl plans to attend medical school in the fall. –CONTRIBUTED
Naugatuck Youth Soccer’s U10 girls pool group attended the Cheshire Quinnipiac Valley Invitational Tournament. The group played four games and won each. The developmental group is coached by Paulo Cruz, Garid Gravel and managed by Vicki Krooss. –CONTRIBUTED
Naugy United went undefeated over the Memorial Day weekend to capture the U11 Girls Championship at the Cheshire Quinnipiac Valley Invitational Tournament. With only three reserve players on a very hot and humid weekend, the girls only gave up one goal during their four games. Naugy United defeated previously unbeaten Plainedge Explosion from Long Island, N.Y. 1-0 in the final match.
