Dietz, who graduated in 2012, attends Keene State College in Keene, N.H. -CONTRIBUTED Beacon Falls Cub Scout Pack 2010 participated in a bike rodeo Aug. 20, which was run by Beacon Falls Police Officer Caroline O’Bar with help from Officer Greg Gallo and Naugatuck police Officer Ryan Burns. The officers taught the children bike safety, checked for proper helmet fitting, and the scouts rode through an obstacle course. -CONTRIBUTED The Prospect Women’s Softball League recently finished its 19th season. Yellow finished the season atop the standings while Grey came in second. The Raspberry Team won the end of season playoffs and Jade took second. The league consists of women from the ages of 18 to 60, some still playing from inception of the league. The league will begin its 20th year next June, with preseason signups in May. Individuals that have played in the past and want to get back into the sport, college students home for the summer and any others who are interested are encouraged to join. The purpose of the club was to promote general intelligence and intellectual curiosity at a time when few women were attending college. The club meets every other Tuesday in the fall and spring. Each member presents a 20 minute paper on an assigned topic, which was the original format established in 1894. Three papers are read on any given day. The club also participates in social events.
