The Naugatuck POW/MIA Committee hosted the vigil, which was held to raise awareness of the POW (Prisoners of War) and MIA (Missing in Action) issue from all wars and to keep the pressure on government to continue to search for and get answers regarding the final disposition of each individual so closure can be given to their families and loved ones. Beacon Falls resident Mike Krenesky won silver and bronze for two homemade wines entered into the 2015 WineMaker Magazine International Amateur Wine Competition. He won silver for a tomato/pepper wine made from his own garden fruits. He won bronze for a peach/apricot chardonnay made from a kit. The medals were announced at the 2015 WineMaker’s conference in Portland, Ore., in May. –CONTRIBUTED

Rebimbas and Rose presented a ceremonial check for money raised for the group during the recent legislative ‘dress down’ day. The legislature’s Women’s Caucus sponsored the ‘dress down’ day at the Capitol to raise money for the American Lung Association’s Lung Force Campaign and the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation.
