Naugatuck Emblem Club placed first in an Americanism display contest at the Connecticut State Association of Emblem Clubs convention in May in Stamford and at the Supreme Emblem club convention in October in Reno, Nev. The theme of the club’s display was ‘The Women Behind The Men.’ It was all little known facts about the First Ladies. New Harvest Restaurant in Beacon Falls held a guest chef event Oct. 19 featuring Irina Cherhoniak of Salon Luxera cooking her favorite recipes in honor of her mom. The event was part of Griffin Hospital’s Valley Goes Pink initiative and raised $620 for the Hewitt Center for Breast Wellness.
