NAUGATUCK — The Public Works Department started its annual spring street sweeping program the last week of March.

Crews started in the downtown area. They will branch out to various other locations, continuing in the Hunter’s Mountain, Andrew Mountain, Rubber Avenue, Rubber Avenue Ext. and Gunntown Road areas. Updated locations will be published in advance, the department stated in a press release. Schools will be swept next week.

Residents and merchants are encouraged to sweep their sidewalks into the gutter line in advance of crews sweeping their streets. Sand should not be swept into piles. Any litter, debris or leaves should be separated and disposed of normally in the trash or recycling streams.

After areas are announced, residents are encouraged to get their cars off of the street to ensure all streets are done to completion. For more information, visit www.naugatuck-ct.gov.
