The Independent Party of Connecticut has endorsed Republicans George Logan and Nicole Klarides-Ditria for state office.

The endorsements mean Logan and Klarides-Ditria will appear on the Republican and Independent lines on the ballot.

Logan, an Ansonia resident, is challenging state Sen. Joseph Crisco, D-Woodbridge, in the 17th Senate District, which represents all or portions of Ansonia, Beacon Falls, Bethany, Derby, Hamden, Naugatuck and Woodbridge.

“For the past 20 plus years, the residents of the 17th District have had only one voice in Hartford, a voice that continually votes against businesses, middle-class families and people that need it the most,” Logan stated in a press release. “Independent voters understand that new leadership and a new direction needs to be taken in the state of Connecticut.”

Klarides-Ditria, 47, is the deputy first selectman in Seymour. She is challenging Democrat incumbent state Rep. Theresa Conroy, of Seymour, in the 105th General Assembly District, which represents Beacon Falls, Derby and Seymour.

“The Independent Party’s ideology of ensuring an honest and open government that tackles issues in a common sense way matches the approach I have taken locally as the deputy first selectman of Seymour,” Klarides-Ditria stated in a press release. “I believe this type of approach needs to be duplicated in Hartford and the first step to making this happen is electing independent voices to the General Assembly this November.”
