Conti, a recent graduate of Woodland Regional High School, will attend the University of Connecticut. Conti is the second recipient of the annual award. The scholarship was established in honor of former Democratic Prospect Mayor George A. The weeklong celebration, which was in honor of the 75th anniversary of the creation of Batman, included a superhero parade and screening of the 1966 Batman: The Movie. –LUKE MARSHALL Naugatuck Youth Soccer’s Elite Extreme U12 boys won the South County Rhode Island Seaside Classic July 12-13 for the second year in a row, sweeping all four games. The team, which played in the tournament’s more competitive Seaside Division, scored 18 goals. Combining to score the 18 goals were Brian Portela, Brian Silva, Alex Manasoiu, Branden Lage, Zach Koslosky, Connor Kusmit, Nelson Lavoura, Brandon Sampaio and Freddie Longo. Goalie Michael Connan, with the help of the defense led by Matt Smith, limited opponents to just one goal for the tournament on a penalty kick. Ferretti built a covered bridge at Matthies Park for his Eagle Scout project. His Eagle ceremony was held at Matthies Park in view of the new bridge. Ferretti, the son of Donald and Deborah Ferretti, is entering his sophomore year at Syracuse University.
