The winners were recognized during a recent Nurses Week luncheon and ceremony. The Nightingale Award celebrates outstanding nurses and elevates the nursing profession. -CONTRIBUTED Alex Triscritti, 17, of Naugatuck, is among 50 students nationwide who have been selected to participate in the Four Star Leadership program July 12-19 in Oklahoma City. Triscritti, a senior this fall at Naugatuck High School, was chosen for his demonstrated leadership abilities and outstanding character. Triscritti is the Corps Commander of his Air Force Junior ROTC unit, a member of the color guard and soccer team and the National Honor Society. Each session will follow curriculum designed to develop leadership skills and challenge students through team-building exercises, collaboration, spontaneous problem solving and competition. Excursions during the week will provide participants opportunities to further develop and employ those skills through cultural experiences and service projects. -CONTRIBUTED The Prospect Historical Society recently presented its 2014 Nellie and Ruth Cowdell Scholarship to Woodland Regional High School graduate Angeline Rosato. Rosato will attend American University in Washington D.C. this fall. While at Woodland, Rosato was on the Student Council, played varsity sports and was named to the National Honor Society and the Math Honor Society. The scholarship is awarded to a graduating senior from Prospect who is attending an institution of higher learning. It is awarded based on scholarship, financial need, service and a short essay about Prospect. ‘My childhood has been the best possible,’ Rosato wrote in her essay, ‘and I can only credit that to living in Prospect.’ For more information, visit www.prospecthistoricalsociety.org. The nurses were honored by Griffin Hospital during a recent Nurses Week luncheon and ceremony. -CONTRIBUTED Saint Mary’s Hospital has appointed Prospect resident Robin Sills, RN, as physician liaison. ‘As we continue to cultivate exceptional relationships with our physicians and other providers, effective communication and relationship management will be imperative. Sills will lead our efforts in this area,’ said Joe Connolly, vice president of community affairs and chief marketing officer. A graduate of the Saint Mary’s Hospital School of Nursing, she worked in Saint Mary’s orthopedic/neurological unit. Most recently she served as physician relations specialist and marketing coordinator at Naugatuck Valley Radiology Associates.
