A $5.69 million passed a town vote Wednesday, 181-93. Hundreds packed into Woodland Regional High School’s auditorium to cast their votes via paper ballots, but only three residents spoke.

The budget reflects almost $300,000 in cuts since its proposal; it failed both a previous town vote and a referendum.

  • April 20: Board of Finance trims $38,500 from the town budget after a public hearing.
  • May 5: The $5.95 million budget fails a town vote, 139-83.
  • May 11: The budget is reduced from $5.95 million to $5.87 million (a decrease of $85,000), at a meeting of the joint Boards of Selectmen and Finance, in response to the town vote.
  • June 2: The revised, $5.87 million budget fails a public referendum, 307-245.
  • June 8: The budget is reduced from $5.87 million to $5.69 million (a decrease of $170,000) at a  meeting of the joint boards in response to the referendum.
