NAUGATUCK — Eight Naugatuck High School seniors — Frankie Reula, Kevin Mariano, Aaron Johnson, Troy Bond, Paul Munko, Bryan Burke, Alex Forbes and Alex Squires-Malec — vied for the title of Mr. Greyhound Dec. 12.

The male beauty pageant, which had a fairy tale theme and was titled “Once Upon a Greyhound” this year, is one of the many fundraisers held by Naugatuck High’s Pan Mass Challenge bike team — Blood, Sweat, Tears & Gears.

The Pan-Mass Challenge is a bike-a-thon across Massachusetts that raises money for cancer research and treatment at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute in Boston. Last year, Naugatuck High’s team raised about $20,000.

The contestants did their best to impress a panel of judges in five categories — costume, swim wear, talent, formal wear and a question and answer session — for the opportunity to be named Mr. Greyhound. At the end of the night, Squires-Malec was crowned Mr. Greyhound.
