To the editor,

U.S. Rep Chris Murphy (D-5th District), candidate for U.S. Senate, challenged Republican candidate Linda McMahon to debate their plans for creating jobs. She declined, but I would have liked to have been at that debate to ask Rep. Murphy why my partner and I were ignored when we requested help with a problem we were having with the Chamber of Commerce.

We asked his office a number of times, as well as those of U.S. Rep. Jim Himes (D-4th Distrcit), and U.S. senators Joseph Lieberman (I-Conn.) and Richard Blumenthal (D-Conn.) So far, we have come up empty.

We are a small company in Waterbury and were looking into exporting some of our specialty chemical products. We hoped to find information on how to evaluate potential district and sales representatives in China, India, Brazil, Poland, and the rest of Europe.

This has been going on since June 2011, and we have received no help with arranging a meeting. We have no idea if this venture would have created a job or jobs, but since we didn’t receive needed help from our elected officials, we have created none.
