letters_flatTo the editor,

I am writing to announce my support for Michelle Dowling in her re-election bid for Naugatuck town clerk in the upcoming election.

Michelle Dowling is a proven professional who has, since her appointment as assistant town clerk in 1998, demonstrated that she is a dedicated, conscientious and of course a qualified candidate for the position.

Michelle became a Connecticut certified municipal clerk, after completing the intensive course work and excelling on the state certification exam. For years, Michelle served under the tutelage of one of the longest tenured and highly respected town clerks in this state. Two years ago that veteran, retiring Town Clerk Sophie Morton, a Democrat, endorsed Republican Michelle Dowling.  Ms. Morton’s endorsement was driven by her firsthand knowledge of the work product Michelle consistently demonstrated while working as Sophie’s assistant. Ms. Morton said that we would not be disappointed with Michelle’s performance.

Since being sworn in as town clerk, Michelle Dowling has proven that Sophie Morton’s assessment of her was accurate. Michelle Dowling is a true professional, and an asset to our community. Naugatuck deserves dedicated leaders who do not disappoint. To all residents of Naugatuck, I ask that on Nov. 5 you join me in casting your vote for Michelle Dowling, town clerk.
