letters_flatTo the editor,

I would like to take a moment to thank everyone who came out on Nov. 5, 2013 and gave me their support and vote. I am very humbled and honored that you bestowed your trust in me to do right by the people of Naugatuck, especially for your family. To the many wonderful families that welcomed me into their home and gave me a few minutes out of their busy schedule allowing me to introduce myself and provide you with information on where I stood on issues, I sincerely thank you.

I listened to your frustrations about the endless tax and spend policies, poor road conditions and school systems, average performance rate on the refuse collection and snow removal. Many people told me, “What do I get in return for my hard-earned tax dollars invested in this town when we have nothing to show for it in return.” Every single individual that I met expressed their disgust with their elected or appointed town employees who did not vote in the budget referendum as well has publicly telling the residents not to go out and vote on the referendum. Many of the people on fixed incomes communicated to me that they are on the verge of having to sell their vehicles in order to meet their tax obligations, some informed me that they are seriously considering  putting their house on the market, but feel stuck in Naugatuck because their house has gone down in value. Unfortunately, the 25 percent of voters have spoken and they will have to live with their decision.

I am very proud of the campaign that we put together and of our achievement for receiving over 1,600 (35 percent) of the total votes. I consider this to be an accomplishment for an individual running for office for the very first time, while sending a strong message to the rest of the community. If we were allotted more time to campaign and meet additional residents, I’m sure those figures would have been much higher. I would not have been able to attain this without all of your support. Again, I sincerely thank you for your time, your support and your vote.
