To the editor,

Welcome to spring soccer.  We hope that everyone had a great opening week and enjoyed getting out on the fields again.  Prospect Youth Soccer is very happy to have almost 400 players this season in its programs.  It is a record-breaking year for Mini-Kicks with over 50 players signed up.

The Mini-Kicks are in for a great season using a new program, Dinomites.  This program was designed by Xara soccer and provides coaches with an eight-week curriculum to help make this a great season for your player.  We are very excited about starting this new program and believe that it will enhance the Mini-Kicks program tremendously.

For our Rec and Travel programs, we are very pleased to continue the Everson Soccer Skills Clinics on Friday evenings again this spring season.  The Everson program provides skilled trainers that will help your player excel on the field.  Please remember to take advantage of these clinics that are free to PYS players.  The clinic will operate on May 4, May 11, May 18, June 1, and June 8 from 5 to 5:45 p.m. for U7 and under and 5:45 to 6:30 p.m. for U8 and up.  Please mark your calendars now so that you can attend these clinics.  Travel teams will have an Everson trainer at two practices each during the season.  Your coach will let you know when these practices take place.

Please note that this Rec season will run through June 16 and we will have games on Memorial Day weekend.  Details are being worked out for closing day, so please be sure to check back with your coach as the season comes to a close.

If you’re a WRHS senior and played with PYS, be sure to apply for the PYS scholarship.  Two seniors will be awarded a $1,000 scholarship this year.  Stop in the guidance office to find out more details.

As you may already know, our President Jenn Andrews is stepping down after this season.  Our current Vice President, Mike Sirowich, has been nominated to take on the role of president.  That’s leaves our vice president position open, and Jeff Varesio has been nominated for this position.  If you are interested in either of these positions, please let us know and attend our monthly meeting.  We will vote on these positions at the May meeting (Monday, May 7 at 7 p.m. at the Prospect Firehouse).  Additional nominations can be made prior to the voting.

In addition, this is a voting year for the entire PYS Board.  Nominations for all positions will be made at our October meeting (Monday, Oct. 1) and will be voted on at our Annual Coaches Dinner in November (date to be determined).  As a reminder all coaches and assistant coaches are invited to this dinner.  In order to vote, you must have attended at least three of our general meetings during the year.  We meet on the first Monday of each month at 7 p.m. at the Prospect Firehouse.  We encourage you to attend these meetings and get involved.

We hope you have a great start to the spring season.  If you have any questions please feel free to e-mail me at lbing2@hotmail.com.
