letters_flatTo the editor,

As we begin to see hints of the grass again we can start thinking about spring soccer.  Remember that registration closes on April 5.  The Rec season is slated to begin the week after spring break. Practices for U6 and up will begin Monday, April 22 with games that weekend, April 27. The season will run through June 15 and there will be no break Memorial Day Weekend. The Dinomites program will run on Saturday mornings. All players will be contacted by their coaches by April 12 with details of practices and games.

Our Rec coaches draft meeting will be on Tuesday, April 9 at the firehouse in Prospect.  The U6 and U7 coaches will meet at 7 p.m. and the U8/U9 coaches will meet at 8 p.m.  Coaches will sign up for practice times and draft their team during this meeting.  Coaches will also be given some training to introduce new drills, etc. on Thursday, April 11.  More details of this training will be sent directly to coaches.

Dinomite coaches will also receive a training that will take you through the eight-week soccer curriculum. This training will take place on Thursday, April 4 at 7 p.m. Location is to be determined. We also hope to be able to hand out equipment and team uniforms at this time. Coaches will receive their rosters by April 9 and will contact their teams from there. We are still looking for coaches to help with this great introductory soccer program.  If you are interested, please contact me at lbing2@hotmail.com.

Travel coaches will have training on Monday, March 25. More details will be sent directly to the coaches. Season schedules are currently being worked out and will be distributed as soon as possible. Please watch for emails with season information.

We will be working with Everson Soccer Academy again this season to offer skills clinics. The details of these trainings are still being worked out. We will have the information available to parents prior to the start of the season. This has been a great collaboration that has helped players develop over the last few years.

Finally, please remember to submit your payment for the spring season online at prospectsoccer.grupo.la or mail it to 50 Waterbury Road, Box 333, Prospect, CT 06712.  Payment must be made within two weeks of registration or your registration will automatically be deleted. Payments must be received before the start of the season.

As always, we are looking for your input. Please join us on the first Monday of each month at the Prospect firehouse at 7 p.m. All coaches and parents are invited to attend our monthly meetings. We look forward to seeing you out on the field next month.
