The Friends of Beacon Falls Library held its fifth annual Letters for our Library Scrabble Challenge on Thursday, March 21, 2013. As a result of the many local businesses that lent their support by sponsoring our event, the members of the 14 teams who participated and our volunteers, we were able to add $2,500 to our library building fund.

We so very much appreciate and thank our Double Letter Sponsors: Gabe’s Service Center, G. Q. Village Barber Shop, Haynes Materials Group, Idezyne LLC, Ladies Guild of St. Michael’s Church, Lions Club of Beacon Falls, Magna Steel Sales, O & G Industries, and XPRESS Mart of Beacon Falls. We thank our Single Letter Sponsors: Barnum Financial Group Financial Advisor Matthew Fortney, Beacon Falls Pharmacy, Betkoski Bros., Conklin Sherman Company, Independent Pampered Chef Consultant Martha Melville, JWB Realty LLC, Lioness Club of Beacon Falls and Naugatuck Valley Savings and Loan.

In addition, several businesses and individuals donated to our teacup auction and to our supper. Thank you to Avon Representative Beth Skojec, Brookside Inn and Restaurant, Big-Y, Coca-Cola, Crystal Rock, Creations by Elaine, Fruit Baskets Unlimited, Janine Dellinger of Beacon Body Works, Oxyfresh Pet Products, Subway, Thirty-one Consultant Kristen Lengyel, and the many, many Friends of Beacon Falls Library.

We thank the community groups who came to support our Friends group and our library. Beacon Falls Democratic Town Committee, Rotary Club of Beacon Falls, Lions Club of Beacon Falls, Friends of Seymour Library, Friends of Whittemore Library, and the Beacon Falls Board of Selectmen all participated.

Without the help of these supporters, our event would not have been as successful as it was. We thank our judges Nancy Betkoski, Cindy Jurzynski, Paula Pelletier and Ruth Simpson and thank you to our fantastic Master of Ceremonies Jack Betkoski. Thank you to St. Michael’s Church for the use of the lyceum, the Literacy Volunteers of Greater Waterbury for the use of the boards, and Boy Scout Troop 104 for their assistance. Thank you to all our volunteers from the bottom of our hearts.
