Letter: Rotary Club thankful for food drive support

To the editor,

On this past Election Day the Rotary Club of Beacon Falls held its first annual “Vote for Hope” food drive to benefit the St. Michael’s Food Bank in Beacon Falls. We were overwhelmed with the amount of support we received and would like to take this time to thank all of those who helped make it a success.

We would like to first thank First Selectmen Gerry Smith, also a Rotarian, for bringing this idea to us at the suggestion of a resident of town. Secondly, we would like to thank all those Rotarians of Beacon Falls and Naugatuck who came out in the 30 degree weather to help us with the collection.

And, as the saying goes, last but not least we would like to give our biggest “Thank you” to the people of Beacon Falls for whom this event would not have been the success it was. Because of your generosity we are happy to report that over 430 items were collected for the food bank. And if that was not enough, you also dug into your pockets, at a time when money is tight, and donated more than $280 in cash donations for them.

Once again, thank you all for your support and we look forward to doing it again next year.
