Letter: Rossi is thankful for the support

To the editor,

I wanted to take this opportunity to thank the many people that supported my run [Oct. 13] of the ING Marathon by donating to the Naugatuck Ecumenical Food Bank. The donors are too many to mention in this letter but in the coming weeks I will be reaching out to each one and thanking them personally.

I have always known Naugatuck to be a generous and giving community that is filled with residents ready to pitch in during a time of need. However, I must admit I had never expected this outpouring and the many people that gave to the food bank. I wish to also recognize and thank the many volunteers that work the food bank and give unselfishly of their time and support to service the food bank’s clients year round.

At date of this letter we are officially over $5,000 in cash donations and over $600 in food donations. Thank you does not seem to say enough. While we all take food for granted and the fact that our cabinets are stocked, there are so many that are in need. I was saddened to hear from Marty Lee Fenton of the increase in numbers of those served and the fact that there are clients of the food bank this year that were donors last year.

Please keep the food bank in mind year round. With the upcoming holidays, many will donate and help the food bank as they try to feed as many as possible with holiday meals, however the food bank will continue to feed clients throughout the year and continued support and donation is badly needed and much appreciated.

Thank you again for your incredible support. I am so proud to be a part of such a giving and caring community and was so very proud to represent this community and the food bank in Hartford last week.

Very truly yours,

Tamath K. Rossi
