We are halfway through a fabulous soccer season. Mother Nature has been kind and we haven’t missed a weekend yet. Thanks to all the parents for getting their players out there every week and supporting the PYS program.

Please mark your calendars for our monthly meeting on June 4 at 7 p.m. at the Prospect Firehouse. We will be looking at a new curriculum for the fall season and discussing future investment plans for the program. If you’d like to be a part of that decision, please be sure to attend.

We will also be welcoming Mike Sirowich and Jeff Varesio into their new roles as president and vice president. We wish them good luck in their new roles and are sure that they will lead Prospect Youth Soccer with integrity and honesty. Thank you, once again, to out-going President Jenn Andrews for her many years of service. You will certainly be missed and we look forward to seeing you out on the soccer field.

The Mini-Kicks are having a great soccer season with the Dinomites Program from Xara soccer. All mini-kick parents are invited to provide their feedback for the program on our website. Please visit http://prospectsoccer.grupo.la/ and click on the “polls” tab at the top center of the screen. It’s a brief survey that will help us to determine whether to continue with the program next season.

We hope that the rec and travel players are taking advantage of the Everson Soccer Skills Clinics on Friday evenings. The Everson program provides skilled trainers that will help your player excel on the field. Please remember to take advantage of these clinics that are free to PYS players. The clinics operate from 5:30 to 6:15 p.m. for U7 and under and 6:15 to 7 p.m. for U8 and up. Everson is also helping out at the travel level by coming to individual team practices during the season.

Remember that our final weekend for Rec Soccer (including Mini-Kicks) is June 16.  Coaches will be receiving information regarding end-of-season celebrations and you should check with your coach to find out what will be taking place.

As we begin to wrap up one season, we plan ahead for the next. We hope to have Fall Soccer registration available online by the second week of June. Look for more information on our website. Travel registration must be submitted by July 1. Recreation registration must be submitted by Aug. 1. In addition, your registration must be paid within two weeks of registering online. Failure to submit payment within that time frame will delete your registration from the system.

Remember, this is a voting year for the entire PYS Board. Nominations for all positions will be made at our October meeting (Monday, Oct. 1) and will be voted on at our Annual Coaches Dinner in November (date to be determined). As a reminder all coaches and assistant coaches are invited to this dinner. In order to vote, you must have attended at least three of our general meetings during the year. We meet on the first Monday of each month at 7 p.m. at the Prospect Firehouse. We encourage all parents and coaches to attend these meetings and get involved. If you have any questions please feel free to e-mail me at lbing2@hotmail.com.
