To the editor,
The Naugatuck Parent School Council (PSC), a local organization in Naugatuck, which acts as a facilitator to Naugatuck Public School parent groups, would like to extend its deepest gratitude to Sue and Jim Goggin and Dave Heller for all of their hard work and effort to making the 1st Annual 5K Running Race and Fun Walk that occurred on Saturday, March 12, 2011 a huge success.
An extra special thank you also goes out to Beany Ferreira from The Old Corner Café for all of his help and contributions to making the road race a complete success.
Due to all of their efforts and with the monies raised, the Naugatuck PSC awarded four scholarships to four graduating NHS seniors. The scholarship is awarded to graduating seniors that actively involve themselves in community service.
Additionally, the PSC was able to donate to the Howard Whittemore Library to purchase books for the summer reading programs in the Naugatuck public schools and also a donation was made to the Naugatuck Historical Society for the creation of a website.
A final donation was made to City Hill Middle School and Naugatuck High School to fund educational programs.
The PSC would also like to extend its gratitude to all of the participants, volunteers and spectators that made the road race successful.
All of this would not have been possible without the generous donations by the following corporate sponsors for the 5K Road Race.
