The Lions Club of Beacon Falls would like to thank everyone who supported our fund raising events during the past year. We thought you might like to know which charities received donations made possible by your participation in Beacon Falls Lions sponsored events.

We proudly gave $8,000 in scholarships to high school graduates residing in Beacon Falls and continuing with their education at a higher learning institution. An additional $1,000 was given for the Prom Night Lockdown, providing safety for a large number of WRHS students and their guests. At Christmas time $2,100 was distributed in the form of gift cards for gas, food, and merchandize to needy families in Beacon Falls to help them have a happy holiday. Close to $12,000 was given right back to our community.

Lions Clubs are the world’s largest international volunteer humanitarian organization. The main mission is to assist the visually impaired. In keeping with our motto “We Serve,” $6,400 was distributed to these Lions projects: Lions Club International Foundation, Connecticut Lions Eye Research Foundation, Lions Project for Canine Companions for Independence, and Lions Low Vision Centers of New Haven and Fairfield Counties. A large portion of our donation was earmarked for the Yale Pediatric Eye Center.

Whenever you bought a duck race ticket, attended the car show or wine tasting event, bought fried dough at our booth at the Seymour Pumpkin Festival, or bought flowers at our Easter Flower sale, your participation helped to support all these worthy causes. We hope you will continue to contribute as able and look forward to this year’s coming events.

The Lions recognize that the members alone cannot meet these goals without the support and assistance of our Lioness and Leos Clubs, the Beacon Falls community and local businesses. We thank the following major supporters who always answer our call for help: the Town of Beacon Falls and its officials, the police and fire departments, A Space Center, Antonio’s Restaurant, Beacon Beer and Beverage, Beacon Falls Bakery, Beacon Falls Market, Beacon Falls Pharmacy, Beacon Falls Pizza Palace, Daddio’s, Dr. Thomas DeLuca, the former Full Harvest Bar and Grill, Fitzgerald Automotive, Flash Signs, Gabe’s Gas Station, Hoinsky Real Estate, Idezyme, JWB Realty, Naugatuck Savings Bank, Naugatuck Valley Savings and Loan, Smith Oil and Valley Floor Covering.
