I am honored, proud and excited to endorse my good friend, Vickie Nardello for the 89th District State Assembly as our representative from Bethany, Cheshire and Prospect.
I met Vickie in the early nineties when I first began to get involved in our local town politics. I remember being so impressed with the way she ran that first campaign I witnessed. She was so organized, committed, and determined to meet every possible resident in all three towns.
Through the years, I have repeatedly witnessed Vickie’s same attention to detail and commitment to her constituents in our three towns — it has been unfailing. We worked very closely together to pass on our regional high school referendum. Her guidance through that turbulent time was invaluable. It was evident then as now that she is an ardent supporter of education.
Vickie was instrumental in bringing millions of dollars in grant money to Prospect for waterlines to ensure that our schools and several neighborhoods now have adequate an water supply.
As our representative, she has served on the public health, insurance and real estate committees, as well as the Medicaid Managed Care Council. Vickie has “risen through the ranks” and earned the respect of her fellow representatives to become the co-chair of the Energy and Technology Committee. Toward the end of this past session, the committee passed the “Storm Response Bill,” which will safeguard all users of electricity by setting standards of accountability for utilities and telecommunications.
Many of these committees deal with difficult and technical material — as was the case during the crafting of the Storm Response Bill and the recent wind turbine hearings in Prospect. Vickie does not take her responsibility lightly. She does not promote her own agenda or seek personal gain. She believes vehemently in accountability. She is a consummate researcher and works tirelessly to understand the pertinent aspects of an issue before she renders her vote. She is willing to take on tough challenges and key issues and has earned respect from Republicans and Democrats alike.
I believe there is no other representative who takes his or her responsibility to their district and the state of Connecticut’s residents as seriously as Vickie Nardello. Each person matters to Vickie as an individual. All of her efforts speak to that. If every representative in the state and nation had as much integrity and were as dedicated and hard working as Vickie Nardello, the word “politics” would not have a bad name.
Vickie is one of the most conscientious, dedicated, sincere and hard working women I have ever known. She is committed to her constituents and their health, education, safety and financial stability.
For all these reasons, I hope you will all join me in voting for Vickie Nardello as our state representative for the 89th District.
