letters_flatTo the editor,

Welcome to fall soccer 2013. By now everyone should have heard from their coaches and maybe even had your first practice. Rec practices began the week of Aug. 26 and games will begin on Saturday, Sept. 7.  Our season will run eight weeks and end on Oct. 26. We will be utilizing the fields at Hotchkiss Park and Pent Road Recreation Complex this season. We will kick off our season at Hotchkiss Park on Sept. 7 and play there on Sept. 21, Oct. 5, and Oct. 19.  We will be at the Pent Road Complex on Sept. 14, Sept. 28, Oct. 12, and Oct. 26. Please mark your calendars.

We are happy to continue our training program with Everson Soccer this season as well.  For our travel and U6-U8 rec teams a trainer will visit your practice each week and work with the team and coach. New this year, we will have an Everson Soccer trainer at the lighted field from 7 to 8 p.m. Monday to Friday to offer training. The evening clinics will work on striker training, one versus one skills, etc. The trainer will determine what to work on based on the group that is there for the night. We hope that you will take advantage of these clinics that are offered at no charge to our players.

If you haven’t been to our website lately please check it out. We’ve added a new “Volunteer Tab” for parents to sign up to help work the Snack Shack for the weeks that we are in Prospect (Sept. 7, Sept. 21, Oct. 5, and Oct. 19). All money made at the Snack Shack is put directly back into our program through training, equipment, etc.

Prospect Youth Soccer is run by volunteers and we are always looking for additional help.  If you are interested in taking a more active role in PYS please attend our monthly meetings on the first Monday of each month at 7 p.m. at the Prospect Firehouse. We are currently looking to fill the role of secretary and for someone to run our Dinomites program in the spring. Email me at lbing2@hotmail.com for more information.

Good luck to all of our fall 2013 players. We are looking forward to a successful season.
