To the editor,

Are you better off today than just a couple of years ago? Can you name a significant bill sponsored by our current state representative that has benefited the people of Prospect, Cheshire and Bethany. Think about the last 18 years and ask yourself:

Do we need a bus way from New Britain to Hartford? No. We need common sense spending to upgrade our failing infrastructure. We need Lezlye Zupkus.

Do we need higher taxes to increase the state’s ever-growing “safety net?” No.

We need controlled spending, no more than we can afford. We need Lezlye Zupkus.

Do we need an early release for our “good” criminals? No. We need to feel our children are safe in our neighborhoods. We need a tough stance on crime. We need Lezlye Zupkus

Do we need annual budgets, balanced with smoke and mirrors and fiscal gimmicks? No. We need some budgetary common sense and to spend only what we can afford to and what is truly necessary. We need Lezlye Zupkus.

Do we need to host daily goodbye parties for our small business members? No. We need to eliminate many frivolous tax burdens and regulations and encourage the growth of our business community and the jobs they provide. We need Lezlye Zupkus.

Do we need to watch our retired citizens and many others move south. No. We need common sense programs and tax reductions that makes life here in Connecticut one that our seniors and children can afford and enjoy. We need Lezlye Zupkus.

Do we need a larger government with record-setting tax increases that shifts an increased tax burden to local property taxes? No. We need to trim government involvement in all we do. We need Lezlye Zupkus.

The list could go on and on, but you get the message. The Malloy-Nardello like taxes and policies cannot continue. Our state continues to become the least desirable place in the country in which to live and retire. We need a change in Hartford. We need Lezlye Zupkus.
