To the editor,

Welcome to fall soccer 2012. By now everyone should have heard from their coaches and be getting ready for the first week of practice. Practices begin the week of Sept. 3 and games kickoff that weekend, Sept. 8. The Rec season will run through the weekend of Oct. 27.

This season we are happy to remind you that we will be utilizing the fields at the Pent Road Recreation Complex in Beacon Falls again. Games will be held in Beacon Falls on

Sept. 8, Sept. 22, Oct. 6, and Oct. 20. All other games and practices will be held at Hotchkiss Field in Prospect. This is a great partnership for us to maintain as it brings us to each other’s towns and allows the fields at Hotchkiss to get a much needed break.

Once again, PYS will be partnering with Everson Soccer Academy to bring skills clinics to your players. This season we will have Everson Trainers coming to both Rec and Travel practices throughout the season. Trainers will come to practices one to two times during the season to work with each team and provide a more individualized program.  Please note there will be no clinic on Friday nights due to this change.

We had a very successful summer with players participating in camps run by Everson Soccer Academy, Dynamo Soccer, and the coaches from Woodland Regional High School. We hope that all of our players, both in our camps and not, had a great summer playing soccer.

Finally we remind you that this is a voting year for our board. If you are interested in being a part of the board, please e-mail me at lbing2@hotmail.com for more information.  If you would like to cast your vote at our November meeting, you must have attended three meetings during the year. Remember that we meet the first Monday of each month at the Prospect Firehouse at 7 p.m. All are welcome. We encourage all of our parents to be actively involved in our program as we are a volunteer organization.

Good luck to all of our fall 2012 players. We are looking forward to a successful season.
