Woodland, Naugy show spirit

Woodland spirit finally propelled the Hawks to a win against Seymour Wednesday. Before the game, a war of the classes reverberated through the walls of the Woodland gym.

Black and gold warriors at Woodland Regional High School gathered Wednesday morning to psyche up for the game in the loudest way possible – with a screaming contest between the sophomore and senior finalists.

After battling for 10 days, the seniors emerged triumphant at the pep rally proceeding Wednesday night’s Thanksgiving football game.

Local students warm up pipes for Europe trip

The hills will be alive with the sound of music next year, when choir students from Naugatuck and Woodland Regional high schools sing in France and Wales, respectively.

Twenty-six students from Naugatuck and 20 from Woodland will be making their mark across the pond when they tour Europe.

“It’s a great opportunity for the kids,” said Region 16 Superintendent James Augostine. He said the trip will broaden the depth of the students’ experience and be a great cultural exchange.
