Naugy swimmers stay unbeaten in NVL
NAUGATUCK — The Greyhounds celebrated senior night Thursday with a 93-89 win over Watertown, preserving their perfect Naugatuck Valley League record with two meets left on the schedule.
Naugy (7-2, 6-0 NVL) blasted off the blocks, winning the first seven events to take firm control of the contest. The 200-yard medley relay team of Alex Grasso, Dan Sigetti, Trevor Heller and James Vaz got things started with a win in one minute, 50.60 seconds. Then William Wright claimed the 200 freestyle in 1:57.80, Anthony Krueger captured the 200 individual medley in 2:23.69, and Kyle Conrad took the 50 free in 22.99.

WATERTOWN — The Hawks got a grit-your-teeth win from Mike Krakowski at No. 1 singles, but it was the team’s lone victory Monday morning in an 8-1 loss to Watertown at Crestbrook Park.
The right-handed Krakowski was playing with ruptured blood vessels in his dominant hand, a nagging affliction that has caused head coach Jim Amato to hold back his ace between matches.
Naugy boys oh so close against Wilby
NAUGATUCK — The Naugatuck boys’ basketball team held the lead against Wilby until the 3:06 mark of the third period before the Wildcats went on to close out a 75-64 win over the Greyhounds Tuesday.
Matt Zahornasky and Kyle Krupa were saddled with four fouls each, and Wilby began to exploit the lane, a move that led to the turnaround. Lemar Larson led the Wildcats with 20 points, and he had a lot of help from Terron Robinson and Landen Manning, who scored 15 points apiece, as Wilby racked up 22 points in the third period and 23 points in the final stanza to pull away the win.
Senior Center welcomes fall with block party
NAUGATUCK — More than 100 people bustled about the senior center Thursday morning, meeting representatives of 30-some-odd businesses and organizations in the borough and surrounding area. Hawks top Kennedy; sit in first-place tie
BEACON FALLS — In a meeting of two unbeaten teams—one power and one upstart—power won out in the end. After dropping the first game, Woodland (6-0) staved off Kennedy (6-1) Wednesday night, 3-1 (15-25, 25-23, 25-15, 25-23), to remain atop the Naugatuck Valley League standings.
The Eagles won 10 of the match’s first 14 points, prompting Hawks coach Jim Amato to call time out, in an effort to regroup. But his squad rarely strung together consecutive points and the Eagles, though not a big-hitting team, made few errors, constantly keeping the ball in play en route to a 10-point win. 
Webber reaches milestone in NHS loss
WATERBURY -- Greyhounds senior captain Jessica Webber became the ninth player in Naugatuck girls' basketball history to reach the coveted mark of 1,000 career points Tuesday night at Holy Cross.
The slashing point guard would have been happy to give up a few of those points in exchange for a victory, but the Greyhounds defense accomplished what it set out to do in spite of the 56-35 loss to Holy Cross.
