Naugatuck Senior Babe Ruth beats Shelton

NAUGATUCK — Naugatuck Senior Babe Ruth defeated Shelton, 8-1, Tuesday to improve to 9-4.

Chris Yacavone recorded a two-out base hit in the eighth inning and scored from first on a double of the right-field wall by Brendan Caldwell to give Naugatuck the victory.

Tyler Carreria earned a complete-game win.

Riverdawgs playing Gray versus White game

NAUGATUCK — The Naugatuck Valley Riverdawgs will play their first Gray versus White game Friday.

The game, which is a scrimmage, is scheduled for 6 p.m. at Naugatuck High School, 543 Rubber Ave. Fans can meet the players and coaches at the game.

The Riverdawgs are a semi-professional football team based out of Naugatuck that plays in Major League Football. They are scheduled to open the season Aug. 6.

Woodland Valley Softball sets dates for registration

Woodland Valley Softball is holding registration for the fall season.

Woodland Valley Softball, formally Prospect/Beacon Falls Softball, is open to girls that live in Prospect and Beacon Falls and are 4 years old and older as of January 2016.

Registration can be done in person July 23 and Aug. 6 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., and Aug. 4 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Pent Road Recreation Complex, 100 Pent Road, in Beacon Falls and Canfield Field, 36 Coer Road, in Prospect.

Players’ birth certificates are needed at the time of registration. Anyone who can’t register in person can email or call league President Lori Ewen at 203-415-6890. The deadline to register is Aug. 6.

Registration open for fall soccer

PROSPECT — Registration is open for the Prospect Soccer Club’s fall season.

The club offers MiniKickers, recreational in-house and travel soccer programs. The club recommends U9 and U10 travel players play recreational in-house and encourages older children as well. However, it is no longer required.
